Featured Project (Job 118)
FEATURED PROJECT NO. 1
Gordon and Williams General Contractors, Inc. was awarded a contract in January 2003 to construct a state of the art Waste Separation and Recovery Facility at the Los Angeles County Puente Hills Land Fill. The owner of the project was the Los Angeles Sanitation District, making the project a bonded public works project. The work encompassed building an a 3 story 218,000 SF Waste Separation and Recovery building, with an administration building, scales, scale house, and a fueling station and distribution facilities all on a 40 acre campus.

CEI was the underground wet utility subcontractor to Gordon and Williams on this project. There were layers and layers of wet and dry utilities weaving in and around the buildings that were being constructed simultaneously to meet a rigorous schedule. As you can see from the photos the storm drains and sewers were deep and the working conditions were extremely congested as the buildings were being constructed immediately adjacent our work. Significant planning and creative construction tactics were deployed to be safe and productive on this project.

Upon completing this project, Mark Williams, a principal of Gordon and Williams, mentioned in passing that CEI’s work attitude, safe work practices and productivity were instrumental in facilitating access for other trades in getting their work completed safely and on time. Planning, sound project management practices and execution is what CEI delivered and seeks to repeatedly deliver to its clients.
